In a bid to safeguard individual privacy, Qatar enforces hefty fines and potential jail time for unauthorized capture of accident scenes. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a stern warning, emphasizing the legal consequences of violating privacy laws under Article 333 of the Penal Code.
“Your adherence to laws not only showcases your awareness but also safeguards the rights of others,” declared the MoI through a compelling social media announcement.
Under the provisions of Article 333, individuals who unlawfully invade someone else’s private life, capturing sensitive moments without consent, may face imprisonment for up to two years and/or a substantial fine not exceeding QR10,000.
This bold move by Qatar reinforces the government’s commitment to upholding personal privacy, sending a clear message that any unauthorized documentation of accident scenes will not go unpunished.
