In a decisive move aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery across the Emirate of Sharjah, the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) convened under the esteemed leadership of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The SEC’s agenda, teeming with discussions on pivotal governmental policies, reflected the Emirate’s commitment to advancing its various vital sectors in line with its exponential growth.
A significant outcome of the SEC’s deliberations was the issuance of a comprehensive decision concerning the regulation of suburbs’ councils. This decision, applicable to all suburbs’ councils within Sharjah, delineated various legal provisions governing their operations. From the formation of these councils to the terms of membership, responsibilities of key officeholders, and delineation of council committees’ competencies, the decision aimed at streamlining and optimizing the functioning of these administrative bodies.
Moreover, another noteworthy decision emerged from the SEC’s meeting—the establishment of the Supreme Committee for the Sir Bu Nair Festival. This committee, to be under the auspices of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), is tasked with orchestrating the acclaimed festival. Comprising representatives from esteemed entities such as the Sharjah Media Council, Sharjah Police General Command, and other prominent organizations, this committee’s formation underscores Sharjah’s dedication to fostering cultural and environmental initiatives.
Further underscoring the SEC’s commitment to progress, amendments to the Sharjah Consultative Council regarding the Police Science Academy (PSA) were approved. These amendments, set forth to enhance the PSA’s organizational structure, signify a concerted effort to bolster Sharjah’s law enforcement capabilities and ensure public safety.
In a nod to the Emirate’s aviation sector, the SEC meticulously reviewed the Sharjah Airport Authority’s (SAA) annual report for 2023. Highlighting the remarkable achievements and advancements made by the authority, the report showcased a substantial increase in aircraft traffic and passenger numbers. Notably, the SAA’s endeavors in adopting innovative technologies, fostering a conducive work environment, and garnering accolades for its sustainable practices underscore its commitment to excellence in aviation services.
As the SEC continues to chart a course towards progress and prosperity, its recent decisions and discussions serve as a testament to Sharjah’s unwavering dedication to governance, development, and innovation.
