Oman Sees 11% Surge in Trademark Applications

In a notable rise, trademark registration applications in Oman surged by 11% in 2023, reaching a total of 13,043, up from 11,742 in 2022, as reported by the National Intellectual Property Office.

In the first half of this year alone, Oman saw 6,109 trademarks and 428 patents filed. The increase reflects a broader trend of 10-14% annual growth in trademark activity over the past two years.

This upward trend is attributed to a growing recognition among business owners of the need to safeguard their brands in competitive markets and to combat counterfeiting. Applications are processed through the ‘Oman Business’ platform.

The rising interest in trademark registration underscores its crucial role in protecting intellectual property, preventing fraud, and ensuring market differentiation.
