Bahrain has reaffirmed its support for deeper Gulf cooperation, with housing and real estate emerging as key areas for joint initiatives and innovation among GCC member states.
Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa met GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al Budaiwi and heads of delegations taking part in the 24th meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers Responsible for Housing Affairs at Riffa Palace.
Prince Salman said Bahrain, under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, remains committed to advancing initiatives that strengthen cooperation between Gulf countries and contribute to economic and social development across the region.
He pointed to the long-standing ties linking GCC members, saying cooperation has continued to expand across multiple sectors in line with the priorities set by Gulf leaders and the aspirations of their populations.
The delegation heads conveyed greetings from the leaders of GCC countries to the Bahraini king and Crown Prince, who in turn passed on the king’s greetings to the Gulf leaders.
Prince Salman also stressed the need for closer coordination in housing and real estate, including the development of common approaches to challenges facing the sector. Such cooperation, he said, can help support broader and more sustainable development across the GCC.
The discussions also highlighted the second edition of the Innovation in the Social Housing Sector Conference and Exhibition 2026, being held alongside Bahrain’s hosting of the GCC housing ministers’ meeting.
The conference provides a platform for Gulf states to share expertise, build partnerships and explore new approaches to social housing and real estate development. Prince Salman emphasised the importance of innovation in creating sustainable solutions for the sector.
The visiting delegations thanked the Crown Prince for Bahrain’s continued backing of joint Gulf initiatives and expressed their wishes for continued development and prosperity for the kingdom and its people.
The meeting was held as part of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the GCC Supreme Council, known as the Bahrain Summit.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and other senior officials also attended.
