A former U.S. Postal Service procurement official has pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit bribery and honest-services wire fraud in a scheme tied to packaging contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
James E. Lee Sr. served as a product-management specialist and contracting officer representative for expedited packaging supplies. According to the admitted facts, he steered procurement activity for four companies between 2018 and 2023, reviewed draft technical proposals and disclosed confidential pricing and other internal information. Prosecutors said Lee used a relative and the relative’s consulting company to conceal the assistance.
The companies hired the relative as an employee or consultant and paid nearly $183,000, the Justice Department said. The relative and a former company executive have also pleaded guilty and await sentencing. Lee is scheduled to be sentenced on February 25, 2027. The Justice Department announcement describes the plea and procedural status.
