On Thursday, the government announced that it has appointed the Administrative Secretary of the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to serve as the Nodal Officer for all cases pertaining to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
In reference to the communiqués that were received from the Home Department and from the Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi, an order that was issued by the GAD Commissioner Secretary Sanjeev Verma stated, “The Nodal officer shall be responsible for ensuring uploading of reports or communications or opinions sought by the Commission expeditiously on HRC portal in order to avoid postage or paper works etc.”
