Prominent California attorney Lisa Bloom and her law firm have agreed to a $274,000 settlement over accusations of falsifying information to secure COVID-19 relief funds. Federal prosecutors revealed that the Bloom Firm will pay around $204,000, while Bloom and her husband, Braden Pollock, will each contribute over $35,000 to resolve allegations under the False Claims Act.
Although Bloom and Pollock deny the allegations and admit no liability, the settlement concludes an investigation into claims that the firm misrepresented the use of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds. Prosecutors allege that the funds, intended for payroll expenses, were instead used to pay ineligible workers or those not employed by the firm.
Lisa Bloom, known for her work in high-profile cases including those involving Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Cosby, did not respond to requests for comment. The settlement underscores the stringent accountability expected from legal professionals in handling government aid programs designed to support businesses during the pandemic.
