Daredevils Beware: Abu Dhabi Authorities Crack Down on Wild Stunts; Heavy Fines and Severe Penalties Loom

In a stern message to thrill-seekers, Abu Dhabi authorities have issued a stern warning against performing audacious stunts on the city’s roads, emphasizing that reckless driving will now come with a steep price tag, a barrage of black points, and a lengthy vehicle impoundment.

A video shared by the authorities on social media showcases daredevil motorists pushing the limits on Abu Dhabi’s thoroughfares. The footage unveils a nerve-wracking scene as one driver skillfully maneuvers his SUV on just two wheels, a daring feat where the vehicle teeters on either the left or right pair of wheels while in motion.

Concurrently, another motorist indulges in heart-stopping donuts, a celebratory spin commonly witnessed in racing circles after a triumphant performance. This entails the driver elegantly rotating the rear or front of the vehicle around the opposite set of wheels in a seamless, continuous motion.

Adding to the spectacle, a third driver speeds along, leaving behind a trail of smoke and skid marks courtesy of his vehicle’s rebellious rear tires.

The authorities, unimpressed by the audacity on display, cautioned that engaging in such risky behavior would result in a Dh2,000 fine and a whopping 23 black points against the offender.

But that’s not all; the consequences escalate further, with the delinquent vehicle facing a mandatory 60-day impoundment. To retrieve their prized possession, the delinquent driver must cough up a hefty sum of Dh50,000.

In a sobering message delivered through the video, a police officer stated, “Reckless driving leads to fatalities and property damage, be it public or private. The costs and repercussions, in any scenario, are severe and may culminate in loss of life or debilitating injuries, accompanied by stringent legal consequences.”

Abu Dhabi’s authorities are unequivocal in their stance: the era of daring exploits on the city’s streets has come to an end, with the consequences now too grave to ignore.
