Doctor and ‘Ketamine Queen’ to Stand Trial in March for Matthew Perry’s Death

A California doctor and a woman accused of illegally supplying the drug ketamine to actor Matthew Perry before his fatal overdose are set to face trial in March. Court documents revealed that Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Jasveen Sangha, known to her clients as the “ketamine queen,” have both pleaded not guilty to charges related to Perry’s death in October 2023.

The autopsy of the “Friends” star, who was 54 at the time of his passing, concluded that he died from “acute effects” of ketamine, leading to unconsciousness and subsequent drowning in his hot tub. Perry had been open about his struggles with substance abuse, a battle that spanned decades, including during his time portraying Chandler Bing on the iconic 1990s sitcom.

Ketamine, a drug with both medicinal and hallucinogenic properties, is sometimes prescribed for depression and anxiety but is also a substance frequently abused by recreational users.

The trial, scheduled for March 4 in Los Angeles federal court, will see Plasencia and Sangha tried together. Three other individuals connected to Perry’s death have already agreed to plead guilty.
