Egypt is earmarking EGP 6 billion ($119 million) for the third round of lump-sum payments aimed at clearing export subsidy dues owed to companies for shipments made before July 1, 2024.
Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said exporters seeking to participate in the latest settlement round can submit applications from August 16 through October 1. Payments under the programme are expected to begin on October 22.
The government has paid more than EGP 80 billion to exporters over the past six years as it works to reduce a backlog of outstanding subsidy claims. Authorities are now aiming to clear the remaining dues within two years.
The current state budget includes EGP 48 billion specifically earmarked to speed up export support payments. Export subsidies reached EGP 28 billion in the 2025/26 fiscal year, marking a 55% increase from the previous year.
Kouchouk said the government is also working with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to reshape Egypt’s export support framework and provide greater backing for the sector.
The effort is intended to improve liquidity for exporters while strengthening the ability of Egyptian goods and services to compete internationally and reach additional overseas markets.
Nevine Mansour, an adviser to the finance minister on relations with economic institutions, said EGP 12.6 billion had already been distributed through the first two lump-sum rounds to about 2,500 exporting companies during the 2025/26 fiscal year.
She clarified that the figure represents payments made under both the first and second rounds during the same fiscal year, rather than amounts spread across two separate budget years.
