Empowering Labour Harmony: UAE’s Initiative in Dispute Resolution

In a bid to foster harmony and streamline dispute resolution in the labor sector, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) orchestrated a comprehensive awareness workshop. Representatives from various legal departments across private-sector entities and media outlets congregated to delve into the intricacies of settling labor disputes.

Against the backdrop of MoHRE’s Dubai headquarters, the bilingual session, delivered in Arabic and English, meticulously elucidated the labyrinth of regulations governing employment relationships. Emphasis was placed on the pivotal role of adhering to these legislative frameworks.

Under the purview of Federal Decree laws, MoHRE wields the authority to adjudicate labor disputes, wielding an executive decision. However, stringent criteria must be met, notably, a dispute value not exceeding AED50,000 or non-compliance with previous amicable settlements decreed by MoHRE, irrespective of the claim amount.

For disputes transcending the AED50,000 threshold, MoHRE remains committed to the pursuit of amicable resolutions. Cases eluding such resolutions are seamlessly transitioned to the competent judicial spheres for equitable resolution.

These endeavors epitomize the UAE’s unwavering commitment to bolstering its global competitiveness, curbing the incidence of labor discord, and expediting conflict resolution. Central to this ethos is a legislative framework revered for its integrity and impartiality, ensuring the equitable safeguarding of all parties’ employment rights.

The UAE’s laudable efforts in fostering labor tranquility have been duly recognized on the global stage. Topping the Lack of Labor Disputes index in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2022, issued by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland, underscores the nation’s unwavering dedication to fostering a conducive labor ecosystem.
