Founder of Landmark Group, Micky Jagtiani, Dies at 70, Leaving a Retail Legacy

Dubai’s prominent retail figure, Micky Jagtiani, the chairman and owner of Landmark Group, passed away at the age of 70 on Friday. The Landmark Group confirmed his peaceful departure, surrounded by his beloved family, in an official statement.

Jagtiani, originally from India, launched his retail empire in 1973 with the establishment of Babyshop, a store specializing in baby products, in Bahrain. Over the years, the Landmark Group has experienced remarkable growth, expanding its presence across the Middle East, Africa, and India. Today, it encompasses over 50 well-known brands, including Babyshop, Splash, Home Centre, Centrepoint, Shoemart, and Emax.

Following Micky Jagtiani’s demise, his wife, Renuka Jagtiani, has assumed the role of chairwoman and CEO, continuing to lead the company. The late magnate is survived by his wife and their three children.

The Landmark Group has announced a public condolence gathering scheduled for Monday, May 29, 2023, as a tribute to Micky Jagtiani’s legacy.

Emirati businessman Majid Saif Al Ghurair expressed his condolences on Twitter, highlighting Micky Jagtiani’s significant contributions to the retail and real estate industries. He emphasized that Dubai has lost a notable figure in the sector.

Micky Jagtiani’s presence in the retail world will be remembered, and his passing leaves behind an indelible mark on the industry he helped shape.
