A U.S. appeals court has granted Elon Musk and his cost-cutting task force, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the green light to continue reducing the budget of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) while they fight a lower court ruling that sought to block the move.
In a 2-1 decision, a three-judge panel from the Virginia-based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a Maryland federal judge’s conclusion that Musk and DOGE had likely breached constitutional limits by scaling back the agency’s operations.
The ruling marks a key victory for Musk and his government efficiency initiative, allowing further reductions to USAID’s programs as legal battles continue.
