Alexander Gurevich, an Israeli national, has made his first appearance in a California federal court after extradition on charges tied to the 2022 Nomad Bridge exploit.
A 2023 indictment alleges that Gurevich executed four unauthorised transactions against the bridge’s smart contract, moving 103 wrapped bitcoin and 300 wrapped ether to an address he controlled. The assets were worth about $2.89 million at the time. Prosecutors further allege that he converted and transferred the proceeds through multiple addresses to obscure their source and ownership.
Gurevich was arrested in Israel in May 2025 and later surrendered to the United States. He is charged with damaging a protected computer, interstate transportation of stolen money and money laundering. The first two counts carry maximum ten-year terms; the laundering count carries up to 20 years.
The indictment is an allegation, not a finding of guilt, and Gurevich is presumed innocent unless convicted. The official October 30 account identifies the charges and extradition assistance.
