Muscat – After extensive discussions, joint committees from Oman’s State Council and Shura Council have reached a consensus on several significant draft laws. Among them are the ‘Individual Income Tax,’ ‘Financial Law,’ and ‘Special Economic Zones and Free Zones’ regulations.
The resolution process saw the committees addressing differences on 30 articles in the income tax law, 21 in the financial law, and 22 in the economic zones law. These articles encompassed both original provisions and additional amendments proposed by the Shura Council.
With the disagreements now resolved, the committees have approved the final versions of the laws. The next step is for these to be presented for further deliberation during the joint session of both councils.
