In a strategic move to stimulate economic growth and bolster domestic industries, the Cabinet of Qatar, led by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, has announced the exemption of licensing fees on national products during promotional periods.

The decision was part of the agenda discussed in the Cabinet’s regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday morning. Following the meeting, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs released a statement outlining the key points addressed:

Firstly, the Cabinet approved a draft decision from the Minister of Commerce and Industry aimed at waiving certain licensing fees for national products, particularly during promotional periods. This strategic move is expected to provide a significant boost to local businesses and encourage the production and promotion of Qatari-made products.

Secondly, the government is set to ratify a cooperation agreement in the fields of tourism and business events between Qatar and Uzbekistan, fostering international collaborations to enhance economic and cultural ties.

Thirdly, the Cabinet greenlit a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the youth field between Qatar and the Philippines, emphasizing the commitment to nurturing the potential of the younger generation through collaborative initiatives.

Moreover, Qatar is gearing up to host the 11th meeting of the Arab Committee of UN Experts on Geospatial Information Management from February 4 to 8, 2024, showcasing its role in facilitating international dialogues on crucial matters.

In addition to these key decisions, the Cabinet addressed several other significant topics, including the regulation of the manufacture, installation, and monitoring of artificial coral reefs, the annual report of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, and reports on the outcomes of the 33rd meeting of GCC Ministers of Justice in Muscat (October 2023) and the 27th Meeting of GCC Culture Ministers (October 2023).

This strategic move by the Qatari government reflects a commitment to fostering economic resilience, international partnerships, and sustainable development within the country.
