Doha, Qatar, January 4, 2024 – In a groundbreaking move, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, spearheaded the Cabinet’s latest session at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday morning.
Post the deliberations, HE Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs released a notable statement outlining the key discussions:
Firstly, a nod was given to the draft decision from the Minister of Commerce and Industry, proposing an exemption of national products from specific licensing fees. This initiative, orchestrated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is strategically timed to coincide with promotional periods.
The second point of action involves the ratification of a collaboration agreement in the spheres of tourism and business events between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan. This bilateral cooperation is poised to enhance economic and tourism ties between the two nations.
Thirdly, a noteworthy development was the Cabinet’s approval of the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) facilitating cooperation in the youth sector between Qatar and the Republic of the Philippines. This collaborative effort aims to foster growth and opportunities for the youth in both nations.
Additionally, the Cabinet greenlit the hosting of the 11th meeting of the Arab Committee of UN Experts on Geospatial Information Management, slated for February 4 to 8, 2024. This event underscores Qatar’s commitment to international cooperation in geospatial information management.
During the session, the Cabinet also addressed several critical issues:
- The Cabinet considered and approved a draft decision by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, focusing on the regulation of the production, installation, and monitoring of artificial coral reefs.
- A comprehensive review of the annual report from the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau was conducted.
- The Cabinet evaluated the outcomes of Qatar’s participation in the 33rd meeting of the GCC Ministers of Justice in Muscat, October 2023, as well as the 27th Meeting of GCC Culture Ministers held in October 2023.
