Revolutionary Automated Surveillance System Targets Traffic Violations in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, January 29, 2024 – The Transport General Authority (TGA) is set to usher in a new era of enhanced traffic safety as it unveils a groundbreaking automated surveillance system targeting trucks and buses. This state-of-the-art initiative, scheduled to go live on April 21 across various regions in the Kingdom, aims to bolster compliance with regulations and technical standards set by the authority.

Encompassing cargo transportation, truck rental, international transport buses, and bus rental, the TGA’s directive is designed to elevate the quality and efficiency of services while ensuring their regularity. Additionally, the move seeks to curb carbon emissions, aligning with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services and fostering growth and sustainability in the public transportation and logistics sector.

The TGA has outlined specific violations that will fall under automated monitoring from April 21, including operating a truck or bus without a valid operating card, using a truck or bus with an expired card, and reaching the end of a bus’s operational life.

Emphasizing the collaboration with the advanced traffic safety project, the TGA asserts that the automated monitoring system aligns with its directive to organize and prepare transportation activities and advance the digital transformation project—an integral part of its strategic goals.

This pioneering automated surveillance initiative represents a crucial stride in regulatory advancements, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to revolutionize the transportation system. Aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to enhance the quality of life in all cities, this project is poised to redefine the landscape of traffic management and safety.
