In a move to enhance transportation standards and ensure passenger safety, the Transport General Authority (TGA) in Saudi Arabia has unleashed a stern warning against unauthorized passenger transport. Any violations of this decree will incur a hefty fine of SR5,000, as announced by the authority.
To foster compliance and elevate transportation services, the TGA extends an invitation to unlicensed carriers to join hands with licensed companies. Incentives and support programs await those who opt for affiliation, signaling a commitment to bolstering the industry’s integrity.
Pooling efforts with various governmental bodies and organizations such as the Ministry of Interior, the Pilgrim Experience Program, the Public Prosecution, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and MATARAT Holding Company, the TGA has launched the #DontrideWithNonLicensed campaign. The primary objective of this initiative is to educate the public on the significance of patronizing licensed carriers, thereby ensuring secure and dependable transportation services to and from the Kingdom’s airports.
At hubs like King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, travelers enjoy a plethora of options for their commuting needs. With nearly 2,000 taxis, over 55 car rental agencies, public transport buses, licensed passenger transport apps, and the high-speed Haramain Railway, convenience is paramount.
Licensed transportation entities go the extra mile to enhance the travel experience, offering electronic payment facilities and real-time trip monitoring. These measures not only guarantee comfort but also prioritize the safety of passengers, aligning with the overarching goal of the TGA’s regulatory efforts.
