A new leisure destination is taking shape in Kalba, with Sharjah moving ahead with plans for the Al Freish Lake project, a 51,200-square-metre development designed to blend water features with the area’s natural surroundings.
Located behind Al Marsh Square, the project will include a lake capable of holding around 28 million gallons of water. The development will also provide about 200 parking spaces, landscaped areas and walking paths for visitors.
Stretching roughly 750 metres, Al Freish Lake is being designed as an open recreational space where families can spend time outdoors while taking in the surrounding mountain and coastal landscape.
The project has received approval from Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
Work on the surrounding landscape is already progressing, with trees being planted across the mountain. Waterfalls incorporated into the site will flow through the greenery towards the sea, adding another feature to the planned destination.
Sheikh Dr Sultan described the project as a family-oriented park and compared its planned character with the Al Rafisah Dam development.
Once completed, visitors will be able to park at the site, walk through the landscaped areas and enjoy views of the lake, mountains and sea, giving Kalba another outdoor attraction built around its natural setting.
