In a sweeping campaign, the Transport General Authority (TGA) of Saudi Arabia has unleashed a crackdown on unlicensed passenger transport activities plaguing the kingdom’s major airports. During the holy month of Ramadan, the TGA identified a staggering 2,194 violations, leading to the confiscation of 1,217 vehicles and the unmasking of 126 persistent offenders.
The TGA’s relentless pursuit of unauthorized transport operations targeted airports across the nation, unearthing a web of illicit activities. Among the bustling hubs, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah bore the brunt of these infractions, accounting for 38% of the cases. King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh followed closely with 30%, while Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and Taif International Airport collectively comprised the remainder.
With a paramount focus on passenger safety, the TGA’s initiative aims to uphold regulatory standards and ensure that all transport services operating within airport premises are duly licensed. Through stringent enforcement measures, including hefty fines of up to SR5,000 and the impoundment of vehicles, the authority is sending a clear message to violators: compliance is not negotiable.
