UAE Leads in Arab Region for Trade Resilience According to New Index Report

In a significant development in global trade, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as the leader in trade resilience in the Arab world, as reported by the Whiteshield Global Trade Resilience Index. This announcement was made alongside the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in Dubai.

Whiteshield, a renowned consulting firm with expertise in strategic planning and public policy, unveiled the inaugural edition of this comprehensive report, highlighting the UAE’s pivotal role in global trade. The UAE’s ascendancy in the index is attributed to several key factors: its status as a principal trade hub globally, a welcoming business environment, a diverse range of trading partners, top-tier infrastructure, superior logistics services, and advanced customs processes.

Fadi Farra, the Founder and Managing Partner at Whiteshield, expressed the significance of the report in the current global trade landscape. “As global trade policy becomes increasingly central to the sustainability of world economies, the Global Trade Resilience Index offers a novel approach to assist nations in enhancing their trade stability and recovery capabilities,” Farra stated. The release of this report aligns with the objectives of COP28 in Dubai, aiming to leverage trade and supportive policies to bolster climate protection measures and sustainable development goals.

Raed Safadi, Chief Economist at Whiteshield, emphasized the report’s innovative methodology. “This report employs cutting-edge network theory and simulation techniques to analyze trade disruptions and their potential effects on trade dynamics,” Safadi explained. The report is poised to be a crucial resource in bolstering economic resilience in the face of global trade challenges.
