Riyadh, January 22, 2024 – The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia has unveiled stringent penalties for those found in breach of the Security Surveillance Cameras Law.
Individuals who transmit or publish recordings contravening the law, or engage in the destruction or sabotage of security surveillance camera systems, now face a substantial penalty of SR20,000. Furthermore, the ministry emphasized fines of SR10,000 for each instance of installing security surveillance cameras in restricted locations and SR5,000 for failing to maintain recordings within the specified timeframe outlined in the relevant terms and conditions document.
This announcement underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the proper use and maintenance of security surveillance systems, with severe consequences for those who fail to adhere to the established regulations. The penalties aim to promote compliance and uphold the integrity of the Security Surveillance Cameras Law, reinforcing the importance of responsible installation and usage of surveillance technology across the nation.
