Kuwait Implements Mandatory Biometric Fingerprinting Initiative

In a significant move towards bolstering security measures, Kuwait has declared mandatory biometric fingerprinting for all citizens and residents. Spearheaded by the General Administration of Security Relations and Media, this directive, prompted by a pivotal update from the Ministry of Interior, aims to enhance identification protocols and streamline administrative procedures.

Commencing on March 1, 2024, individuals are allotted a three-month window until June 1, 2024, to adhere to this mandate. Non-compliance will result in the suspension of all transactions with the Ministry of Interior, underscoring the gravity of this requirement.

To facilitate the process, the Ministry of Interior has established multiple centers across the nation, strategically positioned at border crossings, Kuwait International Airport, and designated commercial hubs. These centers cater to Kuwaiti nationals, citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and residents alike.

Key locations for biometric fingerprinting include security directorates in various governorates, such as Hawalli, Farwaniya, Al Ahmadi, Mubarak Al Kabeer, and Al Jahra. Additionally, specialized departments, including the Personality Investigation Department and the Identity Investigation Department, are designated for corporate and resident fingerprinting, respectively.

Moreover, commercial complexes such as Avenues Mall, 360 Mall, Al Kout Mall, Capital Mall, and Ministries Complex have been enlisted as sites for this essential procedure.

While travelers are granted exemption from immediate fingerprinting upon departure from Kuwait, it is mandatory upon their return, reinforcing the comprehensive nature of this initiative.

Residents are strongly urged to comply promptly with this directive to forestall any inconvenience or disruption to Ministry of Interior transactions. This concerted effort underscores Kuwait’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the security and efficiency of administrative processes for its citizens and residents.
