King & Spalding Strengthens Its Ranks with Key Government Hires, Tapping Ex-Biden Officials

King & Spalding, the renowned law firm, has made a bold move in its expansion efforts by bringing in high-profile former officials from the Biden administration. In a continued wave of government-to-private sector transitions, the firm announced the addition of Lauren Roth, the former head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s policy office, as a partner in its Washington D.C. office.

Roth’s extensive experience with the FDA, including her tenure as the associate commissioner for policy, positions her as a key asset for the firm’s clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Nikki Reeves, co-leader of the firm’s government matters and regulation practice, praised Roth for her experience navigating the FDA across multiple administrations, adding that she will be invaluable in helping clients tackle emerging healthcare challenges.

Roth’s hire is the third government official to join King & Spalding this week, underscoring the firm’s strategy to attract top-tier talent during the final days of the Biden administration. Earlier this week, the firm also welcomed Nema Milaninia, a former senior counsel to Google and adviser on cybersecurity and AI matters at the U.S. State Department, and Ryan Majerus, who previously worked with the U.S. Commerce Department overseeing antidumping and countervailing duty laws.

These strategic hires add to King & Spalding’s growing roster of former government figures, including prominent names like Rod Rosenstein, former deputy attorney general under Donald Trump, and Sally Yates, former U.S. attorney general during the Obama administration. Most recently, the firm also secured Robert Hur, the special counsel responsible for investigating President Biden’s handling of sensitive materials.

This influx of seasoned government experts into King & Spalding is a clear signal of the firm’s commitment to strengthening its government-related practices and positioning itself at the forefront of legal and regulatory matters.
