Etihad Rail is accelerating toward a new era of travel in the UAE, confirming that passenger services will roll out by 2026, linking 11 cities and regions across the country. The national railway network aims to offer a seamless, safe, and efficient transit experience while enhancing connectivity between urban centers and communities.
Speaking at the Global Rail 2025 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Rail’s Deputy CEO of Passenger Services, Azza Al Suwaidi, highlighted the company’s focus on world-class travel. “We are designing a passenger experience that blends comfort, reliability, and affordability, supported by a digital-first ticketing approach,” she said. The network will operate on tracks fully segregated from roadways, cutting collision risks and boosting safety.
Travel times are set to redefine convenience: Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 57 minutes, Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in 105 minutes, and Abu Dhabi to Ruwais in 70 minutes. Each train, capable of carrying 400 passengers, will include spaces for work, reading, or relaxation, giving travelers full control over how they spend their journey. Multiple daily departures will accommodate individuals, families, and larger groups efficiently.
Station planning is central to Etihad Rail’s vision, ensuring accessibility and connectivity across all stops, from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah in the east, passing through Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
Looking ahead, the high-speed line between Abu Dhabi and Dubai promises to reach speeds of 350 km/h, cutting travel time to just 30 minutes. The project is projected to contribute around AED 145 billion to the UAE’s GDP over the next 50 years, cementing the country’s standing as a hub for next-generation rail infrastructure.
With safety, reliability, and quality at the heart of every decision, Etihad Rail is on track to transform the UAE’s travel landscape by 2026.
