In a sweeping move to modernize its regulatory framework, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has enacted new measures for the sampling, control, and inspection of food and fodder across the emirate.
The decision mandates the establishment of stringent controls for sampling procedures, directing ADAFSA’s Director General to ensure that qualified personnel handle these tasks. The aim is to enhance the safety and quality of food and fodder at all stages, from production to trade, within Abu Dhabi.
Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director-General of ADAFSA, emphasized that these measures are part of a broader initiative to update the legislative system and reinforce compliance with existing regulations. He highlighted that this decision aligns with the federal laws and underscores the commitment to consumer health and safety.
“This initiative is a testament to our dedication to providing safe, high-quality products for both humans and animals,” Al Ameri stated. “We are following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to enhance food and fodder standards. The new controls offer detailed guidelines and technical standards to ensure accuracy and reliability in our sampling operations.”
Al Ameri also called on all stakeholders in the food and fodder sectors to fully cooperate with these new procedures to achieve the desired safety and quality standards.
ADAFSA will maintain vigilant oversight of these controls, continually refining them in response to advancements in the industry and evolving health standards.
