Abu Dhabi’s Judicial Mediation Success: $120.70 Million Settled in H1 2024

In the first half of 2024, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) achieved remarkable success in financial settlements, resolving a total of 1,234 disputes across various sectors. These disputes, which spanned commercial, real estate, civil, and consumer categories, resulted in settlements amounting to AED44,039,415.

The ADJD’s Vital Operations Performance Report highlights that out of these, 657 commercial disputes were settled, contributing AED148,844,088. Real estate disputes, totaling 276 cases, were resolved with AED104,434,016. Consumer and civil disputes also saw significant resolutions, totaling AED189,761,311.

Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Under-Secretary of the ADJD, underscored the department’s commitment to promoting alternative dispute resolution methods. This approach, he explained, aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It aims to foster a culture of mediation and conciliation, enhancing justice and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s competitive edge.

Strategic collaborations with external mediation centers, such as the Real Estate Dispute Settlement Centre and the Consumer Dispute Settlement Centre, have played a crucial role. These partnerships are designed to streamline and economize the resolution of commercial and economic disputes, ensuring that mediation is prioritized before litigation, thereby protecting rights and fostering a supportive environment for business and investment in Abu Dhabi.
