Doha, Qatar – In a recent revelation, the Ministry of Transport in Qatar has issued a stern warning against a surge in fraudulent phishing emails falsely claiming association with the Ministry. These deceptive emails have been detected arriving in citizens’ inboxes.
The elaborate scam involves luring the unsuspecting public into receiving supposed parcels in exchange for payments facilitated through credit or bank cards via a fraudulent hyperlink.
One such deceitful email reads, “Dear Valued Customer, You have a package awaiting payment. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm your payment yet. Please ensure payment of the shipping fee (QAR 12.99) via the link below. Once the payment process is completed, you will be able to receive it the following morning. The payment link will only be available for 24 hours. To proceed, click here,” as shared by the Ministry on its social media channels.
The Ministry emphasizes the importance of not falling victim to this fraudulent email, as it categorically asserts that it does not dispatch parcels to the public. The cautionary message urges citizens to exercise vigilance and refrain from engaging with any such dubious communications.
This revelation comes as a stark reminder of the ever-evolving tactics employed by cybercriminals, urging citizens to remain cautious and verify the authenticity of any communications claiming to be from official entities.
