Defensive Moves: Israel Defends Actions in Gaza at World Court

In the international legal arena, Israel’s foreign ministry asserted that its military operations in Gaza constitute acts of self-defense against both Hamas and other entities deemed terrorist organizations. Tal Becker, the legal advisor for Israel’s foreign ministry, presented this stance during the second day of hearings at the World Court on Friday.

Becker contested South Africa’s accusations, labeling them as “a grossly distorted story” during the initial day of the hearings. The case, brought by South Africa to the U.N.’s highest court, alleged that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.

According to Becker, any acts resembling genocide were, in fact, perpetrated against Israel. The unfolding legal proceedings at the World Court continue to shed light on the complexities surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
