Doug Emhoff Joins Prestigious Willkie Farr & Gallagher as Partner in a Post-Campaign Move

In a shift back to private legal practice, Doug Emhoff, husband of former Vice President Kamala Harris, has taken on a new role as a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Following Harris’ unsuccessful presidential campaign, Emhoff is set to bring his expertise to the firm, splitting his time between Los Angeles and New York.

With a career rooted in litigation and representation of entertainment companies, Emhoff’s new position aligns with Willkie’s focus on high-profile cases and corporate advisory. The firm, boasting a global team of 1,200 lawyers, highlighted that Emhoff would guide businesses and boards through crises, complex investigations, and lawsuits with international implications.

During Harris’ campaign, Emhoff played a prominent role in fundraising efforts, leveraging his connections within the legal and entertainment industries. His prior experience includes representing notable clients such as Merck, Walmart, and the production team behind the film American Made.

Emhoff previously worked at DLA Piper but stepped away in 2020 when Harris assumed the vice presidency. Now, his return to the private sector underscores his continued influence in high-stakes legal and corporate circles.

Willkie’s statement emphasized Emhoff’s ability to handle cases involving significant reputational concerns, a skill honed through years of navigating the intersection of law, business, and public visibility.
