Dubai Court of Appeal Orders $41 Million in Damages Against Former CEO and Employee of Drake & Scull

In a recent ruling by the Dubai Court of Appeal, Khaldoun Tabari, the former CEO of Drake & Scull International (DSI), along with ex-employee Saleh Muradwejj, has been ordered to pay AED 152 million (approximately $41 million) in damages. This decision covers both material and moral damages owed to the distressed contractor.

The court has determined that Tabari and Muradwejj are jointly and severally responsible for the payment, which will accrue legal interest at 5% from the date the judgment is finalized until the amount is fully settled.

DSI has disclosed that while the ruling is open to appeal, they have commenced enforcement actions. This includes securing attachments on the defendants’ assets to ensure compliance. Additionally, the Abu Dhabi Public Funds Prosecution has enforced attachments on Khaldoun Tabari’s funds and assets.

Notably, Tabari, who holds Jordanian citizenship, was previously acquitted of related charges in Jordanian courts in 2021.
