King & Spalding Strengthens Washington Office with Key Biden Administration Hires

In a strategic move, King & Spalding has bolstered its Washington D.C. office by bringing on a series of high-profile government figures, including Lauren Roth, the former head of the FDA’s policy office. Roth joins the firm as a partner after an impressive tenure at the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, where she most recently served as the associate commissioner for policy.

Roth’s arrival marks the third major hire this week for the law firm, signaling its continued expansion of government affairs expertise as the Biden administration draws to a close. Her experience across multiple administrations positions her as a valuable asset to King & Spalding’s pharmaceutical and medical device clients, who face ongoing regulatory challenges.

This influx of seasoned professionals reflects a broader trend of government officials transitioning to private practice as the U.S. braces for significant shifts under the incoming administration. In addition to Roth, the firm recently welcomed Nema Milaninia, a former senior counsel to Google with extensive experience in cybersecurity and AI policy, and Ryan Majerus, a former U.S. Commerce Department official focused on antidumping enforcement.

These strategic hires further solidify King & Spalding’s position as a powerhouse in government regulation, joining a distinguished roster that includes former top officials like Rod Rosenstein and Sally Yates.
