Kuwait Cracks Down: Industrial Violations Lead to Facility Closures

In a decisive move to uphold industrial integrity, Kuwait’s Public Authority for Industry (PAI) has shuttered a facility in the Sabhan Industrial Area after uncovering illegal practices. The site had been illicitly rented out, a clear breach of the Industry Law and its executive regulations.

The closure serves as a stern warning, with authorities emphasizing that the penalty will remain in effect until the violations are resolved. Should the company fail to address the issue within a month, harsher consequences are set to follow.

The PAI has also issued a separate warning to a company found encroaching on state property. This firm was using approximately 200 square meters outside its designated area, installing counters beyond its plot boundaries. Officials have ordered the removal of these encroachments within a month, threatening stricter penalties for non-compliance.

This crackdown is part of a broader campaign targeting industrial misuse. In recent weeks, the PAI’s Permanent Committee for Industrial Violations has taken action against 16 facilities, leading to three closures and 13 warnings. Common violations include renting industrial plots to third parties or leaving them idle.

By enforcing these measures, the PAI aims to safeguard state resources, ensure compliance with regulations, and promote responsible industrial practices across Kuwait.
