Kuwait City: The Ministry of Social Affairs has mobilized specialized teams to conduct comprehensive inspections of cooperative societies operating in key governorates across the country. These inspections, which will span the Hawalli, Ahmadi, and Mubarak Al-Kabeer regions, are part of an ongoing initiative to ensure these societies adhere to Law No. 2013/118 and its amendments, alongside other regulations governing cooperative operations.
The teams are tasked with scrutinizing both financial records and operational processes, with a particular focus on uncovering any potential violations, mismanagement, or abuse of power that could negatively impact cooperative shareholders. If misconduct is found, the ministry has vowed to take swift action, including the formation of investigative committees aimed at safeguarding the integrity of these vital entities, which are central to the nation’s food security efforts.
These inspections come alongside broader investigations prompted by reports from auditors or shareholder complaints. Ministry officials emphasize that the ongoing monitoring process will continue throughout the year, ensuring cooperative societies remain transparent and efficient.
In a related move, the Ministry has partnered with Zakat House to secure a 45,000 dinar contribution to support its social care projects, including services for the elderly, foster children, and juvenile residents in shelters. This agreement is part of the broader effort to enhance charitable work in Kuwait, in line with the directives of the Council of Ministers. The total funding is expected to reach 200,000 dinars, with any unused funds to be returned at the close of the year.
Additionally, the Ministry has introduced a key administrative shift with Ministerial Resolution No. 247/2024, transferring responsibility for reviewing work systems within the Ministry to a new section, reinforcing efforts to streamline service development and improve operational efficiency.
