Civil rights, housing advocacy, and AIDS prevention organizations are taking legal action against President Donald Trump, claiming his recent executive orders on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) put their federal funding at risk.
The lawsuit, filed in Washington, D.C., names Trump, key cabinet members, and multiple federal agencies as defendants. The plaintiffs—including the National Urban League, National Fair Housing Alliance, and the AIDS Foundation of Chicago—argue that the administration’s directives penalize them for supporting DEIA initiatives and transgender rights, infringing on their constitutional free speech protections.
“By dismantling DEIA policies, these executive orders directly harm marginalized communities while threatening vital grants and contracts that sustain our mission-driven work,” the complaint states.
This lawsuit joins a growing list of legal challenges targeting Trump’s policies since he returned to office. The National Urban League has long advocated for racial equity, while the National Fair Housing Alliance fights discriminatory housing practices.
The case, filed under the name National Urban League et al v. Trump et al, marks another battlefront in the ongoing fight over civil rights and federal policy.
