In a significant move to safeguard public security, Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) reported 896 contraband seizures across its ports in just one week. This sweeping operation, spanning land, sea, and air, was part of the nation’s ongoing mission to tackle illegal imports and ensure the safety of its citizens.
The confiscated items ranged from 49 different narcotics, including hashish, heroin, cocaine, and Captagon pills, to a variety of other banned substances—452 in total. Additionally, ZATCA agents intercepted 1,535 tobacco-related products, various currencies, and even weapons with their accessories.
ZATCA remains dedicated to strengthening its customs oversight and enhancing cooperation with other authorities to prevent the infiltration of dangerous goods. The public is encouraged to play an active role in the fight against smuggling, with a confidential reporting system available via the hotline 1910 or email [email protected].
