In a stern warning, the Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia has alerted consumers to exercise caution when encountering dubious links in search engine results, designed to divert users to counterfeit pages exploiting the ministry’s identity.
Emphasizing stringent measures, the ministry has unequivocally declared that the sole approved channels for submitting commercial reports are the centralized call center, reachable at the number 1900, and the Balagh Tijari mobile application.
Explicitly disavowing any request for sensitive information, the ministry has made it abundantly clear that it neither solicits consumers’ bank account numbers, card details, nor any passwords or one-time verification codes sent through banks. A categorical warning has been issued against divulging such confidential data to any external party. Furthermore, the ministry asserted that it does not mandate the download of external programs or applications while submitting commercial reports.
Of notable significance is the Balagh Tijari application, providing consumers the facility to report commercial violations directly through their smart devices. Users can attach images of violations, pinpoint locations accurately, and track the status of their reported tickets. Additionally, the application serves as a platform for consumers to stay informed about ministry campaigns and news releases. The Ministry of Commerce, through these measures, aims to safeguard consumers from potential scams and unauthorized data collection attempts.
