SFDA Vigilance: Unveiling 8,000 Violations in 2023 as Riyadh Takes Strict Measures

In the year 2023, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) orchestrated a sweeping wave of inspections, encompassing over 58,000 establishments under its watchful eye across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Within the confines of these rigorous assessments, the SFDA unearthed almost 8,000 infractions against its stringent regulations.

As a consequence of this zealous pursuit of compliance, the SFDA shuttered the doors of 259 establishments found to be in transgression of its established norms. Remarkably, amidst the scrutiny, the authority meticulously processed close to 32,000 shipments coursing through the Kingdom’s ports, with only 4,000 shipments deemed unworthy and subsequently rejected. The ballet of efficiency performed as the average processing time for each shipment danced to the rhythm of 51 minutes.

These diligent inspections, conducted in collaboration with relevant authorities, are part of the SFDA’s commitment to ensuring unwavering compliance with technical regulations and food specifications. A formidable stance is taken against those who dare to defy, as legal measures are invoked to guarantee the safety and health of consumers.

The SFDA extends an earnest invitation to the public, urging them to become vigilant eyes and ears by reporting any violations observed in establishments under its watchful gaze. This call to action can be heeded by dialing the unified number (19999) or seamlessly navigating through the realms of the “Tameni” application. In this era of heightened scrutiny, the SFDA remains resolute in its mission to safeguard the sanctity of food standards and regulations across the Kingdom.
