Streamlining Services: Saudi Expands Digital Reporting for Passport and Iqama Issues

In a bid to enhance convenience and efficiency, Saudi Arabia has unveiled an array of electronic services facilitating the reporting of lost or stolen passports and residency permits (iqama). Through the Absher and Muqeem portals, individuals now have streamlined avenues to address these critical document-related concerns.

Under the auspices of Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) introduced eight new electronic services during a ceremonious event held at its Riyadh headquarters. Among the dignitaries present were Lt. Gen. Suleiman Al-Yahya, Director of the National Information Center Dr. Esam Alwagait, Eng. Thamer Al-Harbi, Deputy Assistant Minister of the Interior for Technology Affairs, and Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Jadhai, CEO of Elm Company.

The Absher platform now offers four distinct services, encompassing the reporting of passport loss or theft, provision of digital documents for visitors, expatriate reports, and visitor documentation. Similarly, the Muqeem portal extends four services, enabling users to modify translated names, report iqama loss, inquire about visa statuses, and issue employer notifications.

Lt. Gen. Al-Yahya underscored the significance of these services, framing them as integral components of Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation initiatives. By prioritizing efficiency and accessibility, the Jawazat aims to streamline processes, enhance service quality, and empower beneficiaries with smart solutions. These measures signify a concerted effort towards elevating service standards and fostering digital advancement for all stakeholders.
