Supreme Court Inquires About Potential New Bail Legislation from Central Government

In a recent development, the Supreme Court has directed the Union of India to provide clarification on its stance regarding the possible formulation of a new Bail Law, aligning with the directives laid out in its 2022 ruling in the case of Satender Kumar Antil v. Central Bureau of Investigation.

Justices MM Sundresh and SVN Bhatti, presiding over the bench, sought confirmation on whether the government is actively considering the implementation of a new legislative framework for bail, echoing the recommendations put forth by the Court in the aforementioned case.
