Trump Orders Purge of Biden-Era U.S. Attorneys, Declares ‘House Cleaning’ at DOJ

In a sweeping move to reshape the Justice Department, President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he has directed the immediate termination of all remaining U.S. attorneys appointed during the Biden administration.

“We must ‘clean house’ IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence. America’s Golden Age must have a fair Justice System—THAT BEGINS TODAY,” Trump proclaimed on Truth Social.

The Justice Department has yet to issue a response.

The White House had already sent termination notices last week to multiple U.S. attorneys across the country. Some Biden-appointed officials resigned ahead of the formal dismissals, while others left the government in the days prior.

While it is common for incoming presidents to replace U.S. attorneys, the process typically involves formal resignations rather than abrupt firings. The method and language of these dismissals have raised eyebrows among legal circles.

This mass ousting marks the latest upheaval within the Justice Department since Trump returned to office last month. Career officials in key districts, including Washington and New York, have either been dismissed or chosen to exit.

Trump has long vowed to dismantle what he calls the “weaponization” of the Justice Department, a theme he championed on the campaign trail. Now, with firings underway, his administration is taking aggressive steps to realign the federal law enforcement landscape.
