UAE Attorney-General Strengthens Ties with BRICS Counterparts at Summit

The UAE Attorney-General, Chancellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, made a significant diplomatic visit to St. Petersburg, Russia, to participate in the BRICS Summit 2024. This summit served as a vital platform for Al Shamsi to engage in bilateral meetings with several top legal officials from BRICS and allied nations.

In a series of strategic discussions, Al Shamsi met with key figures including Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor-General of Russia; Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor of China’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate; K.M. Nataraj, Additional Solicitor-General of India; Mohamed Shawky Ayad, Prosecutor-General of Egypt; Tesfaye Daba Wakjira, Ethiopia’s Minister of State for Justice; Mohammad Movahedi Azad, Prosecutor-General of Iran; and Shamila Batohi, South Africa’s National Director of Public Prosecutions.

These high-level meetings focused on enhancing cooperative efforts in public prosecution, fostering a collaborative approach to mutual legal and judicial challenges. The dialogue underscored the commitment of the UAE and its counterparts to strengthen legal ties and improve coordination on issues of shared interest, contributing to the broader objectives of the BRICS alliance.
