UAE Crackdown: MoHRE Strikes Against Illegal Activities of 50 Firms and 5 Social Media Accounts

In a sweeping move to maintain order and legality in the labor market, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has taken stringent action against 50 companies and 5 social media accounts found engaging in unlawful recruitment and mediation activities. This crackdown, which unfolded throughout 2023, marks a decisive step towards upholding regulations and protecting the rights of workers.

Under the vigilant gaze of the MoHRE, in collaboration with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the nefarious operations of these entities were unearthed. Swift administrative penalties were levied upon the offenders, ranging from fines to restrictions within the Ministry’s records. Moreover, those found in violation were not spared the grasp of the law, as they were promptly referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action. The digital arm of their malfeasance, the errant social media accounts, faced the ultimate sanction – they were blocked from further propagation of their illicit activities.

The Federal Decree-Law Regarding the Regulation of Employment Relationships stands as a bastion against such transgressions, mandating permits from the MoHRE for recruitment and temporary employment endeavors. Violators of this decree face severe consequences, including imprisonment and hefty fines, as stipulated by law.

Khalil Al Khoori, the Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at MoHRE, emphasized the steadfast commitment of the Ministry to enforce legal measures against any entity found operating without the requisite permits. The efficacy of MoHRE’s inspection mechanisms was lauded, particularly in preemptively identifying and prosecuting those flouting regulations. Through meticulous scrutiny of promotional campaigns, especially on social media platforms, potential violations were pinpointed, underlining the Ministry’s unwavering dedication to maintaining the integrity of the labor market.

Al Khoori implored members of the community to exercise due diligence when engaging with entities offering employment or mediation services, urging them to verify the legitimacy of permits issued by MoHRE. Such vigilance not only safeguards individual rights but also thwarts attempts at fraudulent practices. Reporting violations and suspicious activities was encouraged, underscoring the collaborative effort required to uphold the rule of law.

Echoing these sentiments, Majed Al Mesmar, the Director-General of TDRA, reiterated the agency’s commitment to supporting national endeavors and ensuring compliance with regulations. The symbiotic relationship between TDRA and MoHRE serves as a bulwark against illicit activities, fostering stability in the labor market and fortifying the economic landscape.

As the UAE marches steadfastly towards its vision of prosperity, initiatives like these reaffirm the nation’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and fostering an environment conducive to sustainable growth and development.
