Kuwait City’s streets saw a major crackdown as authorities recorded a staggering 43,760 traffic violations in just seven days. The General Traffic Department ramped up enforcement between February 1 and 7, leading to swift action against reckless drivers and other offenders.
Among the measures taken, 47 juveniles were referred to Juvenile Prosecution, while 48 individuals were placed in precautionary detention. Traffic officers also seized 41 vehicles and 43 motorcycles, sending them to the impound lot.
Beyond traffic infractions, law enforcement flagged other serious concerns. Two individuals were referred to the General Department for Combating Drugs, two were caught in an altered state, and three lacking identification were sent to the relevant authorities for further processing.
The crackdown was part of a round-the-clock operation, with officers stationed at key intersections and surveillance cameras keeping a constant eye on road activity. Meanwhile, the department’s Operations Division handled 3,089 reports during this period.
Traffic accidents remained a concern, with 1,676 incidents recorded, including 1,420 collisions and 256 cases involving both collisions and injuries. With enforcement at an all-time high, authorities continue to keep a tight grip on traffic violators, aiming for safer roads across the country.
