In a decisive move to combat illegal immigration, Saudi Arabia’s security forces have successfully deported 10,295 individuals in a weeklong crackdown from January 23 to 29, 2025. The Ministry of Interior disclosed that these deportations were part of a larger operation that saw a total of 21,564 arrests made across the Kingdom.
The arrests were driven by a coordinated effort between security agencies and government bodies, targeting violations of the Residency Law, Border Security Law, and Labor Law. Among the apprehended, 13,883 were accused of residency violations, 4,668 were border security offenders, and 3,013 were found in breach of labor regulations.
Notably, the operation also resulted in the referral of 27,127 violators to their respective embassies to secure travel documentation, and 2,317 individuals were directed to arrange their travel plans. Meanwhile, authorities continue to crack down on smuggling networks, with 18 individuals arrested for assisting violators by sheltering, transporting, or employing them.
Efforts to stop illegal border crossings also saw 1,477 attempted entries thwarted, with the majority of detainees hailing from Yemen and Ethiopia. Additionally, 90 people were caught trying to leave Saudi Arabia unlawfully.
In response to the increasing challenges posed by illegal residency and border violations, the Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning. Facilitators of illegal immigration, whether by transport, shelter, or aid, face penalties that include up to 15 years in prison, a hefty fine, and the confiscation of vehicles and property used in the illegal activities.
The Kingdom is urging citizens to report any suspected violations through designated hotlines, reinforcing its stance against illegal immigration and violations of national laws.
